Stimulus length uncertainty with dichotic digit recognition.
Dichotic digit listening was made more difficult by interleaving one-, two-, three-, and four-pair digits within a test list in which the subjects did not know a priori the number of digit pairs presented on a given trial, thereby introducing listener uncertainty. Twenty right-handed (mean age = 26.8 years) and 20 left-handed adults (mean age = 24.0) with normal hearing and 40 right-handed adul...
متن کاملpersian version of the dichotic digit test for children: design and evaluation of the psychometric properties
background and aim: dichotic digit test (ddt) is a valid neuropsychological tool for determining the dominant hemisphere in verbal processing; therefore, the main goal of this research was designing and investigating the psychometric properties of ddt in a sample of iranian children and then measuring its concurrent validity using the n-back task. methods: the present study was a descriptive an...
متن کاملInter-digit HMM: connected digit recognition using the Macrophone corpus
Continuous digit recognition over the telephone channel is a key technology for many telecommuncations applications such as voice dialing, automatic banking, and credit card number entry. Speech recognizers usually acheive high performance by modeling the acoustics in Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) using large numbers of multivariate Gaussian mixtures with assumed diagonal covariance in order to m...
متن کاملThe effect of filtering and inter-digit interval on the recognition of dichotic digits.
The new compact disc from the Department of Veterans Affairs, Tonal and Speech Materials for Auditory, Perceptual Assessment, Disc 2.0 (1998), contains two lists of randomly interleaved 1-, 2-, and 3-pair dichotic digits. Two experiments are reported, in which the effects of low-pass filtering and inter-digit interval on dichotic digit recognition were investigated in adult listeners with norma...
متن کاملOn the Digit Test
In a set of stochastic simulations, which we collectively call the digit test, we compare the widely used linear congruential with the new inversive random number generators. The inversive generators are found to perform always at least as good as any of the linear congruential generators; in some simulation runs, they perform signiicantly better.
